You don’t necessarily need your thermals, wellies and flask of tea though as the WRC is broadcast live online so you can watch the action from the comfort of your sofa.
Things kick off a couple of weeks earlier this year, starting on Thursday 4 October under floodlights at Tir Prince Raceway. This course is a good place to see the cars if you’re in the area, but don’t forget the all-asphalt Great Orme-Llandudno stage is back this year. Plus, thanks to recent legislation changes, short sections of public road can be used to join off-road sections together.

Can I watch Wales Rally GB on TV?
Unfortunately you can’t on free-to-air TV. Unlike in past years, Channel 5 isn’t covering the the WRC in 2018.
There is an alternative: BT Sport. You get this with certain BT broadband packages, but you can also get BT Sport as an add-on for Sky and Virgin TV too.
Since it’s an internet channel (several actually) you can watch via the BT Sport app on the go as well as on a BT YouView, Virgin or Sky set-top box.
Unfortunately, it’s only a highlights programme shown on , so there’s no live coverage. Highlights of the Wales Rally GB will be shown on BT Sport 3 (and the HD version) on Tuesday 9 October from 12:15-1:15am.
How can I watch WRC online?
Head to the WRC+ website where you can choose between the Basic and All Live packages. The former costs €8.99 per month and the latter €4.99 per month. It’s cheaper if you pay annually: €89.99 and €49.99 respectively.
With the Basic package you can watch two live stages per rally and full highlights, but you can’t re-wind the live streams and you don’t get any video on demand.
