Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga will reprise their roles as paranormal investigators, Ed and Lorraine Warren. They will be investigating one of the most fascinating cases so far – the first time in their country’s history that a murder suspect claims demonic possession as a defence.

Like other Warner Bros. films such as Mortal Kombat and The Suicide Squad, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It will release simultaneously on HBO Max and in cinemas in the US. But will UK viewers also have the option to watch this creepy film at home? We’ve done all the digging for you.

When does The Conjuring 3 release in the UK?

The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It is currently set to release both in the UK and US on 4 June 2021. This date is pushed back from an original September release.

You can watch the full official trailer for the film below:

The Conjuring 3 will release in UK cinemas such as Odeon, Cineworld, Vue, The Everyman and more (providing that they are open by the release date). We will add in pre-order ticket links once they go on sale.

Currently no word has been given on a UK home release. That said, you can still watch it on HBO Max in the UK.

How to watch The Conjuring 3 on HBO Max in the UK

It is still possible to watch The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It on HBO Max here in the UK. You can sign up for HBO Max on the website for $14.99 per month. However, as the platform is US-exclusive the site is geo-locked. You can bypass by using a VPN.

VPNs (virtual private networks) reroute your IP address so you can browse the web as if you’re from another country. In this case, you’ll want to connect to a US server. For the best performance and pricing, we’d recommend either NordVPN or ExpressVPN . You can also check out our picks of the best VPNs for HBO Max for further recommendations.

Billing information for HBO Max

For the next step, you’ll need the HBO Max app. We have successfully tested this method using NordVPN and an Android phone.

Once you’ve bought the VPN you want, you’ll need to download it on either your iOS or Android device. The HBO Max website currently only allows you to sign up if you have a payment card that’s tied to the US. If you don’t have that, here are the steps you should take:

Launch your VPN on your iOS/Android device and connect to a US serverCreate a new Apple ID/Google Play account in your browser that’s tied to the US (leave the country blank)Register your new account on your iOS/Android device app storeYou should now have access to the US app store – download and install the HBO Max appTap ‘skip’ if the app store asks you to add payment information to your iOS/Google Play account before you’ve installed HBO MaxCreate a new account in the HBO Max app with your email address and passwordUse PayPal as your method of payment (this can be a UK account)Once your account is verified, you can sign in from any device

There have been reports of users not being able to install HBO Max on iOS as the app store forces users to register their payment details and doesn’t accept UK PayPal if you try to register with this account.

To get round this, we recommend purchasing US App Store credit via a digital gift card. This can be added as a US payment option.

When the site asks you to put in the recipient, enter your own email address and the code to redeem the money will be sent to your inbox. When you come to adding payment information in the app store, select ‘redeem gift card or code’, and you should be able to add the money as credit on your account.

With this, you should then be able to sign up for an HBO Max account. Once your account is active, you can change your payment information back to your UK PayPal via the website to avoid having to pay for a new gift card if you wish to continue your subscription.

This method is technically against HBO’s terms of service, so the company could cancel your account at any time. Proceed at your own risk.

Will The Conjuring 3 release on UK streaming services, VOD and DVD?

The Conjuring 3 hasn’t yet been confirmed to get a home release in the UK. As it’s so close to when UK cinemas reopen, we’re not sure what the plan will be for international distribution.

So far, HBO Max films haven’t stuck to a set distribution plan. Godzilla Vs. Kong became available to rent on VOD services the day after its HBO Max release, whilst the Justice League Snyder Cut was available to stream through the platform Now at no extra charge at the same time that it released in the US.

If the film does get a home digital release, we’ll likely hear more closer to the release date. You’ll also be able to get The Conjuring 3 on DVD eventually, but this will likely be much later on in the year.
