The duo shared the course for three of the four rounds at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational last month, with Koepka winning the tournament to strengthen his status as world number one.

Last week, they played side-by-side in the first two rounds of the Northern Trust Open and they will get to do so again in the first two rounds of the BMW Championship.

The second event of a three-legged FedEx Cup playoffs begins in Medinah, Illinois, this Thursday and Koepka and McIlroy will tee off for their first round at 11:48 a.m. ET.

They will be joined out on the course by Patrick Reed, who last week secured his first win since triumphing at The Masters in 2018.

Reed’s success at the Northern Trust Open catapulted him into second place in the FedEx Cup standings, behind Koepka.

Justin Rose, the defending FedEx Cup champion will tee off at 1:54 p.m. ET along with world number two Dustin Johnson and Webb Simpson.

They will be followed by Matt Kuchar, Jon Rahm, Patrick Cantlay, who will tee off at 2:05 p.m.

Rahm finished tied for third last week and is the third-favorite to win at Medinah behind Koepka and McIlroy, while Cantlay finished tied for 12th.

Tiger Woods, meanwhile, will make his return to the scene of two of his triumphs when he tees off alongside C.T. Pan and Billy Horschel at 12:54 p.m. ET.

The 15-time major winner won his first PGA Championship crown at Medinah in 1999, finishing one shot ahead of Sergio Garcia at 11-under par. Seven years later, he repeated the feat when he finished five shots clear of Shaun Micheel with a memorable 18-under par performance.

Since triumphing at The Masters in April, Woods has again been beset by back pain, which has affected him for the best part of the last four years.

Following his exploits in Augusta, Georgia, Tiger missed the cut at the PGA Championship, finished tied for 21st at the U.S. Open and then missed the cut at The Open Championship. Last week, he withdrew after carding a 4-over par 75 in the first of The Northern Trust, citing a strained oblique muscle.

The withdrawal saw Woods fall to 38th in the FedEx Cup standings, meaning he has work to do to qualify for the Tour Championship and admitted it wasn’t until morning that he decided to show up at Medinah.

“I feel good,’’ he told ESPN. “Feel a lot better than I felt last week. Felt good this morning, so I thought I’d give it a go.''
