The sawx made a somewhat surprising run to the ALCS in 2021, eventually losing out to the Astros, but it was no matter: Even with the injury to Chris Sale, the return of Alex Cora helped stabilize the team and pushed the Sox deep into October.

This year, the Red Sox won’t be as sneaky. They return largely the same squad as 2021 with one notable upgrade: Trevor Story joins the fray, inking a big-money contract with Boston, offering another big bat in a lineup full of them.

Unfortunately for cord-cutters, options to watch the Red Sox are limited — but there are still options. Here’s what you need to know about how to catch Sox games without having cable in 2022:

How to watch Red Sox games without cable

For those without cable, there are several options to stream Red Sox games this year. Of course, MLB’s blackout restrictions apply:

— If you’re in market, fuboTV carries NESN, the Red Sox’s RSN, but blackout restrictions apply. Meaning, if you are within the Boston market for NESN, you can watch Red Sox baseball via fuboTV. But, for those out of market, you will not be able to watch Red Sox games on the streaming service, since fuboTV will not carry the out-of-market RSN.

— Inside of market, DirecTV Stream also carries NESN and all of the networks which broadcast nationally televised games: Fox, ESPN, MLB Network, FS1 and MLB Network. These are all part of the service’s “Choice” package for $89.99 monthly.

— If you live outside of the Red Sox’s TV market, you can watch games via MLB.TV.  For $129.99 for the season or $24.99 per month, you can catch every game from every team. You can also pick a single-team option for $109.99 for the season. Again, this is only if you are outside of the Red Sox TV market: If you are inside of the Red Sox market, games will be blacked out. Games will also be blacked out if you live outside of the Red Sox market, but inside of the market of teams the Red Sox are visiting.

— For nationally televised games, there are a few options with some exceptions: fuboTV,  SlingTV,  DirecTV Stream, YouTube TV  and  Hulu+ Live Sports  all carry ESPN, MLB Network and FS1.

You can check if games are blacked out in your area using MLB’s blackout tool.
