The concert will be livestreamed at the PBS website on the eve of Memorial Day, which is observed every year on the last Monday in May.

Viewers can check local listings on the PBS website. Most stations will broadcast the concert at 8:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. CT.

The concert will not be held on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol building, where it is traditionally hosted, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The pre-taped 90-minute program will be available for viewing for two weeks following the live broadcast, according to the PBS website.

PBS advises: “The concert is broadcast on PBS as well as to our troops serving around the world on the American Forces Network.

“AFRTS [Armed Forces Radio and Television Service] uses seven satellites along with digital compression technology to provide multiple television and stereo audio services to over 1,000 outlets in more than 175 countries and U.S. territories and on board U.S. Navy ships,” the PBS website adds.

The concert will be hosted by Joe Mantegna and Gary Sinise. Sinise, the Oscar-nominated actor, is marking his 15th year as a co-host.

Sinise was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his role as Lieutenant Dan Taylor in the Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump.

This year’s concert line-up will feature performances from Grammy Award-winning artists Gladys Knight and Sara Bareilles, as well as country music singer Alan Jackson, a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame and an inductee to the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Former Secretary of State General Colin Powell, as well as Golden Globe-nominated actor Steve Buscemi and a string of other actors and musicians, will be featured at the concert.

Sinise said in a video message ahead of the concert: “I am honored to be returning for my 15th year as a co-host of the National Memorial Day Concert. Hosting this concert, year after year, means the world to me because we can never do enough to remember the sacrifices of the men and women who serve our country.”

A national moment of remembrance will take place at 3:00 p.m. local time on Memorial Day, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs advises.

Many people also place American flags on each gravesite at national cemeteries in observance of Memorial Day.
