Following last night’s showcase of the new BTS song “Permission To Dance,” the global stars will return to the show Wednesday for an “epic never-before-seen performance” of the song, the show tweeted Tuesday.

The song, which was released in May and co-written by the band’s leader RM, is their second English language track after “Dynamite,” for which the group was nominated for their first Grammy Award earlier this year, marking the first-ever Grammy nomination for a K-pop act.

The track features on their new CD Single Butter, which was released on July 9 and includes “Permission to Dance,” their latest single.

Described to have a “distinctive baseline and crisp synth sounds,” the song is “brimming with positive and bright energy will instantly uplift moods,” according to Big Hit Music, the company that manages BTS.

How to Watch BTS Perform ‘Butter’ on Jimmy Fallon

Fans can watch BTS perform “Butter” at the NBC television channel, where The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. ET/ 10:35 p.m. CT. The show can also be streamed via NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming service.

Viewers can also catch the performance on the show’s YouTube channel, where it is scheduled to premiere on July 15.

TV Debut Performance of ‘Permission to Dance’

The band’s showcase of “Permission to Dance” on Fallon’s show on Tuesday marked the debut television performance of the new BTS song.

The track, co-written by singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, Snow Patrol singer Johnny McDaid and others, was performed in an empty shopping mall, according to NME and Billboard, against a backdrop of lots of purple and white balloons sprawled across the floor and hanging above it.

In a change from the cowboy-themed attire seen in the music video of the song, which premiered last Friday, the group sported a collegiate, preppy look in their latest performance, with ties, button-down shirts, blazers as well as jeans and beige trousers.

BTS On Working With Ed Sheeran and Going Back on Tour

The group also sat down and spoke to Fallon virtually about “Permission to Dance” and working with Sheeran.

Band leader RM said: “PTD is a song that will get everyone’s heart pumping and dancing again. This is actually a gift from Ed Sheeran of course, one of our friends. Mad respect and big love to Ed. We also prepared something called ‘Permission to Dance challenge’ for YouTube Shorts. So please stay tuned for more.”

Asked if they remember the first time they met Sheeran, RM said the band “couldn’t believe” they had not yet met the Grammy Award-winning artist, despite their latest single being the group’s second project with Sheeran.

The band previously collaborated with Sheeran on their track “Make It Right.”

RM also recalled being nominated for their first Grammy Award this year. “Sorry for the cliche but it was really an honor, one of the biggest honors, as an artist…it was the first time [being nominated] as a Korean, it was so meaningful, so historic,” RM told Fallon. “It was so crazy, [we’re] so thankful for fans all over the world.”

Asked about when the group will start touring again and how that will make them feel, in response to a cheering crowd, RM said: “This is what we want and this is what we’re gonna feel when we’re back on tour.”

“Get ready guys, get ready,” RM added, as Fallon predicted the band’s return to the live stage will be “an emotional first performance.”
