All We Know So Far About the 2023 Grammys

The 2023 Grammys will take place at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena on Sunday, February 5, 2023.

The ceremony will be available to watch via CBS and Paramount+ at 8 p.m. ET/ 5 p.m. PT.

You can subscribe to Paramount+ now for $4.99 per month.

There are five new categories this year: Songwriter Of The Year, Non-Classical; Best Alternative Music Performance; Best Americana Performance; Best Score Soundtrack For Video Games and Other Interactive Media; and Best Spoken Word Poetry Album.

Additionally, a new Special Merit Award will be awarded for Best Song for Social Change, which will celebrate a song that addresses an important social issue and promotes peace.

Announcing the new categories, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement: “We are so excited to celebrate all of this year’s Grammy nominees who contributed to such a prolific year in music.

“With the addition of five new categories and a new, diverse class of voting members, we look forward to honoring all of this incredible music and the people who made it.”

The eligibility period this year spans Friday, October 1, 2021 to Friday, September 30, 2022, so there is a huge host of incredible music to be recognized when the Grammys take place in February 2023.

For example, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, and Adele all released new music during the eligibility period, so the categories are going to be crammed with talent.

However, four-time Grammy winners Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak have pulled their debut album Silk Sonic from the race.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Mars explained: “We truly put our all on this record, but Silk Sonic would like to gracefully, humbly and most importantly, sexually, bow out of submitting our album this year.

“We hope we can celebrate with everyone on a great year of music and partake in the party. Thank you for letting Silk Sonic thrive.

“We’d be crazy to ask for anything more. Andy and I, and everyone that worked on this project, won the moment the world responded to ‘Leave The Door Open.’ Everything else was just icing on the cake.

“We thank the Grammys for allowing us to perform on their platform — not once but twice — and awarding us at last year’s ceremony.”

The 2023 Grammy Nominations are available to stream at 9 a.m. PT/12 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 15.
