How Do I Set Up Google Nest Hub?
You must set up your Google Nest Hub with the Google Home app, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store on Android or the App Store on iOS.
Open the Google Home app and tap the Plus (+) in the upper-left corner of the screen, then select Set Up Device > New device. The app will walk you through setting up and personalizing your Nest Hub.
How Do I Use Google Nest Hub?
Like the original Google Home, Google Home Mini, and Google Home Max, the Nest Hub integrates with Google Assistant, so it can do anything those devices can do plus more. The Nest Hub also includes all the features of Google Chromecast, which means you can cast videos, photos, and more from your phone, tablet, or computer.
You can control your Nest Hub using voice commands. Voice commands must be preceded by “Hey Google.” For example, you can say, “Hey Google, listen to Dynamite by BTS on YouTube Music” to start streaming your favorite song. The Nest Hub also has a touchscreen interface you can use to control connected devices and services.
You can also ask any question, such as “Hey Google, how many days until Christmas?”, and you’ll usually get the correct answer. You can even use voice commands to stream shows and movies from services like Disney Plus, but you must first link your Nest Hub to your Disney Plus account.
Control Your Smart Home
Use the same steps above to link your smart appliances, including your TV, lights, and security cameras, to the Google Home app so you can control them from your Nest Hub. Once your devices are connected to the Google Home app, you can control them from your other Google smart speakers. A significant benefit of the Nest Hub is you can also use the touchscreen to manage them. Tap the Home Control tab on the main screen on your Nest Hub to see your connected devices.
Use Nest Hub as a Digital Photo Frame
When not in use, your Google Nest will display an assortment of photos featuring famous landmarks, artwork, cities from around the world, and nature. If you prefer, you can have it show pictures from your Google Photos app.
Tap your Nest Hub on the Google Home app home screen and tap the Settings gear > Photo Frame > Google Photos. Google will pull photos at random, but you’ll also have the option to pick a specific album and control how often the display changes. Once your Google Photos app is linked to your Nest Hub, you can give commands like, “Hey Google, show me a photo from my wedding album.”
Make Calls on Google Nest Hub
Since your Nest Hub is connected to your phone, it’s possible to make calls using voice commands. You can call a business with a command like “Hey Google, call Yuan Su Vegetarian Restaurant,” but if you want to call people in your phone’s contacts, there are a few steps you must take:
Open the Google Home app and tap your Profile icon in the upper-right corner. Make sure the Google Account linked to your Nest Hub is selected, then tap Manage your Google Account. Scroll through the tabs at the top of the screen and tap People & sharing. Tap Contact info from your devices. Tap the Save contacts from your signed-in devices switch to turn it on. If your contacts do not start syncing after a few minutes, open the Settings on your phone and tap Google > Settings for Google apps > Google Contacts sync. Under Status, tap Manage settings, then tap the Automatically sync switch to enable it.
Using Google Nest Hub Camera
In addition to video calls, the Nest Hub Max also supports face recognition to protect confidential data like your Google Calendar and Google Photos library. To enable the Face Match feature to your Nest Hub Max, open the Google Home app and tap the Settings gear > More settings > Assistant > Face Match.
Casting to Google Nest Hub
After setting up your Nest Hub, it appears as an option whenever you select the cast icon in any app. For example, open a photo in Google Photos, tap the cast icon, and choose your Nest Hub display to see it on your Nest Hub.
Stream Music, Movies, and TV Shows
You can connect most music and video streaming services to the Nest Hub. Just open the Google Home app, tap the Plus (+) in the upper-left corner of the home screen, tap Video or Music, then tap Link under the service you want to connect. After logging into your account, you can stream music and videos using voice commands or the touchscreen. For example, to watch Netflix, say, “Hey Google, play show/movie on Netflix.”
